Obi Cubana’s Business Hit as Family Feud Erupts Over Late Father’s Property
...One Sibling Accused of Declaring Others ‘Dead’ to Claim Ownership
A fresh twist has emerged in the ownership tussle surrounding Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja — the property housing the popular Cubana Lounge — as businessman Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, becomes entangled in a deepening family dispute within the Amakaeze family.
On Tuesday morning, court sheriffs and police officers stormed the Cubana Lounge around 8 a.m. to enforce an eviction order purportedly granted to a new claimant, Mr. Collins Onwuzulike, who presented himself as having purchased the property from Rev. Chidiebere Amakaeze, one of the six siblings of the Amakaeze family.
However, the exercise took a suspicious turn when some of the supposed court officials and a number of police officers abruptly disappeared from the location mid-operation. Before vanishing, bailiffs had supervised the dismantling and evacuation of property belonging to the Lounge, including industrial generators and air conditioners. Staff members watched in shock as documents indicating an ongoing enforcement were pasted across the building.
OBI CUBANA REACTS TO THE CONTROVERSIAL EVICTION
Speaking on the development, Obi Cubana expressed concern over the integrity of the process and the unsettling family crisis behind the dispute. He disclosed that even though he had previously expressed interest in purchasing the property once he got wind of a possible sale, he declined the offer because one sibling alone was pushing to sell.
According to him, “It would be unfair, as a friend of the family, to buy the property from just one sibling when I know the others are still alive and have equal ownership rights. Buying from one person would mean taking sides and creating deeper problems among them. Tomorrow, the others may return to demand their share, and I won’t be part of planting discord in a family I am close to.”
He also revealed that he had been a long-term tenant on the property and later discovered that some of the rent he paid over the years was allegedly not disclosed to the full family. Instead, Rev. Chidiebere, who many assumed was managing the property on behalf of all, was allegedly sidelining his siblings.
ALLEGATION: REV. CHIDIEBERE DECLARED HIS SIBLINGS ‘DEAD’
In a shocking revelation, sources confirmed that Rev. Chidiebere Amakaeze reportedly swore an affidavit in court declaring all five of his siblings — Chukwunwem, Duluem, Adaolisa, Uju, and Chimmeri — as deceased. By doing so, he allegedly claimed sole authority to sell the property, paving the way for the purported N2 billion transaction involving Mr. Collins Onwuzulike of SEMC Investment Ltd.
This affidavit formed part of the documents used to secure a judgment from a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Gwagwalada, which in July 2025 granted possession rights to Onwuzulike. The court claimed he had acquired the property through a Power of Attorney and Deed of Assignment executed on 1 May 2024.
FAMILY KICKS: 'THE JUDGMENT IS VOID'
The remaining siblings of the Amakaeze family have since surfaced — alive and well — declaring the judgment void and accusing Chidiebere of fraudulently misrepresenting them as dead.
They have filed a case at the High Court of the FCT, Bwari Division, challenging the sale and placing an official caveat on the property to prevent further transactions.
According to court filings, the five siblings insist they never consented to any sale and were never informed of it. The alleged fraudulent affidavit forms the crux of their criminal and civil action against their brother, who they claim acted alone to enrich himself.
LEGAL CONFUSION AND CONFLICTING COURT ORDERS
The controversy became further complicated when another order from the FCT High Court in Bwari was obtained, temporarily restraining Mr. Onwuzulike from taking possession of the property. Tuesday’s attempted eviction followed the expiration of that restraining order, though the family insists that no legitimate sale ever occurred.
Justice J.A. Aina of the Gwagwalada High Court had previously ordered law enforcement agencies, including the Inspector General of Police and the FCT Commissioner of Police, to assist the claimant in taking possession. Yet, the counteraction from the Bwari court has left both the police and the public uncertain about which ruling truly stands — especially with allegations of fraud now at the center of the case.
THE BATTLE AHEAD
With the family now united against Rev. Chidiebere, the case is expected to evolve into a major legal showdown, potentially involving criminal charges for perjury, fraud, and illegal property transfer.
Meanwhile, the Cubana Lounge remains in a tense state, with its operations disrupted and its future at the property in jeopardy pending the court’s final decision.Obi Cubana’s Business Hit as Family Feud Erupts Over Late Father’s Property ...One Sibling Accused of Declaring Others ‘Dead’ to Claim Ownership A fresh twist has emerged in the ownership tussle surrounding Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja — the property housing the popular Cubana Lounge — as businessman Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, becomes entangled in a deepening family dispute within the Amakaeze family. The Ancient Ìgbò in their communion with the Supreme Being, had a ritual which was the final and absolute plea to Chukwu Okike, to turn things around in their favor.
This ritual was called Ịsalu Enu Aka, according to Professor Anenechukwu Umeh. It literally means "to raise and show one's hand (palms) towards the sky (Enu/Igwe). But spiritually, it is the highest Aja (sacrifice) a man/woman can offer to Okike - an offering of one's soul to be weighed against one's life as recorded by mother nature (Okike).
For me, It was a ritual that required no words or incantations. All it required was for a man/woman to raise and show their palms with courage and sincerity of heart.
This Ịsalu Enu Aka was the Ìgbò way of presenting one's self to judgment to Chukwu Okike (Olisa Ebili Uwa, Obasi dị n'enu, the creator/creation/nature).
It was a silent prayer, but was most powerful; as your deeds (good and bad) are read by your Chi, Agwụ, Ndị Ịchie, and Ora mmụọ, and presented to Ala, which then scores your present life's deeds, and passes you to the summation of Chukwu Okike to be blessed with your heart desires, or to be kept in line till you are deserving of what you ask of Okike.
Ịsalu Enu Aka is one ritual in which only the upright amongst us can dare to partake in, for no man who soils his hands and offends Okike can raise his hands to Enu to seek immediate judgment and answers to one's petitions.
This aspect of Ìgbò spirituality, although it is hardly taught, points to the validity and importance of Nsọ (Holiness and uprightness) in Ìgbò Odinala na Omenala. For indeed it is only a man who has kept the four arms of Nsọ and is without blemish (or sin) that can raise his palms to Enu (Anyanwụ na Igwe) to be judged and to be helped instantly.
So Ụmụ nnem, as we journey back to our Ìgbò roots and the very spirituality that made our ancestors sages, let us do our best to keep Nsọ Ala, and be upright in our dealings with others. So that one day when we will need the urgent intervention of Okike in our lives Or when we die and are ready to join Ndị ịchie, we will be confident enough to raise our palms without our Chi first judging us, and condemning us.
And now, to why I used this image for my little piece on Ịsalu Enu Aka.
This deeply mystical art by our gifted sister Chiagoziem Nneamaka Orji caught my attention, and in a matter of seconds my mind was thrown back to this divine ritual of Ịsalu Enu Aka, as was mentioned by Professor Anenechukwu Umeh in his book "After God Is Dibia." Smiles filled the face of munwa bụ Chuka Nduneseokwu, and a deep feeling of joy gripped me because in a split second Agwụ connected the dots between what had been revealed to her in this art, what Professor Umeh wrote about the ancient Ìgbò Ịsalu Enu Aka many years ago, and the interpretations of his description of the ritual revealed to me in my quiet times, lost in thoughts of what Okike was to us Ndị Ìgbò.
Today, I Chuka Nduneseokwu make bold to say that Agwụ is interconnected and unending in revelation. All of us are tapping from the same source of infinite wisdom and intelligence. Only if we pay attention to the universe around us, we will find the answers we seek in the dreams, trances, songs, art, poems, writings, prophecies, and intuitions of others - man, animals, and trees,. Plants, and celestial bodies alike.
Dear Onye Agwụ, may you always find your path, and identify the dots that are being connected for you through the gifts of others.
Dear Onye Ìgbò, may you keep Nsọ, so that you will be among those who can raise their palms in utmost supplication to Okike, even while in this mortal reality - as Onye Uwaa.

The Relationship Between CHI (Spirit) and CHI (Daylight) In Odinala Igbo, Pinpointing The Realm Of CHI in Igbo Cosmology:
The ancient Igbo, in their wisdom and understanding of creation, had the same name for our Spirit, Life-force, Destiny (CHI) and the daylight (CHI), which accompanies the rising of the sun (Anya anwu/Anyanwu). And so also in the practice of Odinala which they handed down to us, Ndi gboo designated the sun as the dwelling place and ultimate source of the CHI (light/life-force/spirit/essence).
They believe that the sun is the medium through which our individual CHI enters our world, to take on anu aru (bodies/cloths). We see this in the ritual of installing (Idotu Chi) the physical representation of a man's chi (Okpensi CHI).
When a man comes of age in many parts of Igbo land, he is expected to physically invite his CHI into his home by setting up an altar/shrine dedicated to the complete communication with his CHI.
He will invite a Dibia to perform the ritual of Idotu Chi, which is bringing down the CHI from the face of the sun, at daybreak.
The CHI is invoked into the Okensi CHI and will remain in the man's compound until the day of his death, when the shrine must be destroyed.
The implication of the above ritual simply means that our individual CHI resides with the sun, the bringer of daylight, or, in other meaning, the CHI passes through it to visit our world (Uwa).
And this completely aligns with the Igbo understanding that CHIUKWU OKIKE (the Supreme Spirit) is in close communion with the sun (Anyanwu) – and expresses itself chiefly through the sun, Anyanwu.
By the foregoing, it then simply establishes the fact that the dwelling place of the CHI is not Ala Mmuo (spirit realm of dead people), as has been erroneously taught by those who try to marry Odinala and Christianity.
It is important to note that there are two spiritual realms in Igbo cosmology: "Ala mmuo" being a dwelling place of the spirits of dead people, while "Be mmuo" is the home of CHIUKWU OKIKE, CHI, and all other Alusi that carry out the work of the Supreme Spirit (Chi Ukwu, Chi na Eke, Olisa Ebili Uwa).
It is important that in our definition of the realm and source of the CHI, that we do not carelessly relegate the CHI to the land of the spirit of the dead.
This is because they are two distinct realms, like I have mentioned above. Ndi Igbo, in their understanding of life and the afterlife, look forward to the next world (after we die) as a spirit realm which is as much the same as the physical world.
The ground, forests, hills, valleys, rivers, streams, oceans, and roads leading to various towns are just like we have here in this reality. Dead ancestors, who now inhabit the spirit world (Ala/Ana/Ani mmuo) have their usual occupations, just like when they were in the world of the living.
It is from this Ala mmuo that dead ancestors come to our realm, in an ever-continuous cycle of life, death and reincarnation. This abode of ancestral spirit is different from the dwelling place of the CHI, which according to Ndi Gboo is the sun (Anyanwu).

This abode of ancestral spirit is different from the dwelling place of the CHI, which according to Ndi Gboo is the sun (Anyanwu). ~ Article Written By Chuka Nduneseokwu, a Dibia, Igbo Odinala Researcher, African Revolutionary, and Igbo Philosopher0 Yorumlar ·0 hisse senetleri ·800 Views ·0 önizleme -
HERE IS A POWERFUL TEACHING OF IKENGA
As an Igbo man and you haven’t set up your ikenga here are the things you will be missing
THE MYSTERY OF IKENGA — THE POWER BEHIND YOUR DESTINY
In Igbo spirituality, Ikenga is not just a carved figure.
Ikenga is your inner engine, the spiritual power that pushes you forward, clears your path, and lifts your destiny.
Ikenga represents:
Ike mmụọ — the strength of your spirit
Ike mmadụ — the raw will inside you
Ike chi — your God-given purpose
Ike ọnwa — your personal time, growth, and success
To understand Ikenga, understand this truth:
Whatever your Chi has written for you, Ikenga is the power that makes it manifest.
That is why Ikenga always stands with two horns —
because the path of greatness requires courage and conviction.
It is the symbol of:
Personal victory
Achievement
Hard work
Honor
Progress
Identity
When your Ikenga is strong, doors open.
When your Ikenga is weak, even small things become hard.
Ikenga does not work by sitting on a shrine…
Ikenga works when YOU rise, when you take action, when you chase your dreams with confidence.
Ikenga is your spiritual signature —
your personal power, your destiny in motion.
Honor your Ikenga, and life will honor you in return.

THEOPHILUS YAKUBU DANJUMA
This photograph captures a young Lt. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma in 1966, a year marked by two vi0lent military upheavals that reshaped Nigeria’s post-independence path. Although often linked to the January c0up, Danjuma was not part of the January 15, 1966 mutiny led by Major Nzeogwu and others. At the time, he served with the 4th Battalion in Ibadan, where he witnessed the political turbulence that followed the coup’s failure and the rise of Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi.
Danjuma’s decisive and controversial role came later in the July 1966 counter-coup, when northern soldiers revolted against Ironsi’s government. During this operation in Ibadan, Danjuma led the group that arrested General Ironsi and Lt. Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi, an event that ended tragically with their deaths. This moment became one of the defining turning points of the counter-coup and deepened the national crisis.
The image therefore stands as a stark reminder of a young officer operating at the heart of one of Nigeria’s most turbulent years. It reflects the atmosphere of mistrust, ethnic tension, and political fragmentation that engulfed the First Republic and eventually set the stage for the Nigerian Civil W@rTHEOPHILUS YAKUBU DANJUMA This photograph captures a young Lt. When ENUGU COAL GENERATED ELECTRICITY FOR NIGERIA AND NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES.
Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first Prime Minister, visits Nigeria, February 1959.
When Nkrumah arrived in Enugu, he visited the Enugu coal mine and watched the magnificent plant, which supplied Ghana her electricity, in action.
In 1916, Nigeria’s first coal-fired power plant in Enugu began generating electricity, marking the dawn of industrial energy production in the country. The discovery of coal in the Udi Hills had turned the sleepy town of Enugu into a bustling mining hub known as the “Coal City.” The electricity generated powered railway lines, mines, and colonial offices, fueling the growth of southeastern Nigeria. Workers toiled deep underground, their efforts lighting up cities hundreds of miles away and across neighbouring countries. That era not only symbolized technological progress but also laid foundation for Nigeria’s modern energy history. When ENUGU COAL GENERATED ELECTRICITY FOR NIGERIA AND NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES.
