Drama As Senators Snub Natasha’s Plea, Senate Leader Intervenes
A moment of tension played out in the Senate when Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan sought an amendment to a motion addressing the abuse of Nigerian migrants in Libya.
The chamber had been debating the motion when Senator Natasha took the floor, urging her colleagues to pay special attention to the suffering of Nigerian women detained in Libyan prisons. According to her, many of these women have been subjected to horrifying treatment.
She alleged that the female inmates “have been converted to sex slaves solely to satisfy the orgies of the prison warders,” adding that a number of them have even borne children while in detention.
