The respected monarch questioned the logic behind the move, saying it undermines the nation’s fight against drug abuse and corruption.

“If the president can pardon drug convicts, then there’s no need for NDLEA. No need arresting thieves or punishing anyone again,” the Obi declared in frustration.

He warned that such political pardon sends the wrong message to Nigerian youths and emboldens criminals who now believe that “crime pays — as long as you know the right people.”
